Grade 6 is currently studying Earth's place in the Universe. In this unit students will learn about the planets and celestial bodies found in our solar system, the Milky Way. They will also study Earth's moon, tides, and seasons to round out the astronomy part of the year.
Grade 7 students are focusing on graphing throughout the year in science class. We recently grew amaryllis plants and observed changes during the growth process. The collected data will be used to show how height of a plant changes over time.
Grade 8 students just wrapped up our first chemistry unit of the year while learning about atoms. We will next begin learning about common phases of matter like solids, liquids and gases. Students will also be introduced to less common phases such as plasma and Bose-Einstein condensates.
