    A Message from Mrs. G.
Our 8th graders have begun reading The Maze Runner,
paying close attention to setting and characterization. They recently finished writing an essay on their pride in America. Our narrative writing has focused on point of view. For independent reading the students are reading A Christmas Carol. They are writing reading logs, choosing vocabulary, and finding figurative language. They are also completing a webquest on Victorian England and comparing it to the novel.
The 7th graders are reading The Outsiders,
focusing on the development of the characters. Be sure to see the Outsiders Character Trait Silhouettes in the middle school hallway.
We are now looking at perspective, and recognizing different points of view of one situation. Our narrative writing has been focusing on the character's point of view.
The 6th graders are recognizing the elements of
plot in fiction. We are reading The Call of the
Wild. We have been developing our writing by working
on choosing text evidence to support our claim. Our book clubs include White Fang, Black Beauty, and Winn Dixie.
    Remember to read
    every night !
