Our 8th graders are reading The Face on the Milk Carton,
paying close attention to symbolism. They recently finished writing a two source essay on seasonal symbolism. Our narrative writing has focused on point of view. By writing scenes from a different character's point of view, we can recognize how important it is to be aware of another's perspective on a situation.
The 7th graders are reading The Outsiders,
focusing on the development of the characters. Be sure to see the Outsiders Character Trait Silhouettes in the middle school hallway.
We read several poems by Robert Frost and related their themes to
our novel in an essay. We are now looking at forces of change
within the character study. Our narrative writing has been focusing on the character's point of view.
The 6th graders are recognizing the elements of
plot in fiction. We have just begun reading The Call of the
Wild. We have been developing our writing by working
on choosing text evidence to support our claim. We recently
completed a comparative essay on the short stories
and poems we read to start our school year.
    Remember to read
    every night !
