• ILLNESS OR INJURY?

Children often complain of the onset of symptoms during the night before or morning of a school day. If your child awakens with vague complaints, it is wise to keep your child home to observe them for 1–2 hours before deciding whether to bring your child to school. In order for your child to stay in school OR return to school, they must be physically able to participate in all school activities. The following left-hand tabs include protocols that are primarily based on guidelines established by the State of New Jersey (NJ), the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. If you have any questions about them, please contact our school nurse.

    Important Reminders:

    • A DOCTOR'S NOTE IS NEEDED IF YOUR CHILD IS OUT OF SCHOOL FOR MORE THAN 3 DAYS IN ORDER TO RETURN TO SCHOOL. THIS INCLUDES IF THEY ARE SICK OVER THE WEEKEND AND ARE ABSENT FRIDAY AND THEN AGAIN ON MONDAY.
    • IF YOUR CHILD IS UNDER TREATMENT FOR AN INJURY THAT REQUIRES CERTAIN RESTRICTIONS OR ACCOMMODATIONS BY A DOCTOR, THEN PLEASE PROVIDE A NOTE FROM THIS DOCTOR DETAILING THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SCHOOL.
    • A CHILD WHO HAS STARTED ANTIBIOTICS MUST BE ON THE MEDICATION FOR 24 HOURS AFTER THE FIRST DOSE BEFORE BEING CONSIDERED NON-CONTAGIOUS AND ABLE TO RETURN TO SCHOOL.

In advance, we thank you for your help in making our school community as healthy and safe as possible!
