Welcome to Miss Rizzo's 2nd Grade!
I can’t believe the school year is almost over! We’ve had so much fun learning in 2nd grade this year. There are lots of things to look forward to in June. We’re excited for Field Day and Leadership Day. We’re also excited to continue our bird watching. We were lucky to see a pair of Northern Flicker’s start to build a nest in our tree! Unfortunately, a black bird took over their nest and they haven’t come back. But, we’re enjoying watching the fun things the black bird does.
In ELA we’re coming to the end of Charlotte’s Web. We’ve enjoyed reading about the special friendship between the pig and the spider. We’re learning about spelling patterns and vowel teams. As authors, we’ve been writing about characters in a series.
For Math, we’ve been measuring objects in different units of measurement and will now start to compare them by incorporating addition and subtraction into our measurements. We will soon be graphing data and recognizing geometric shapes.
We’ve been researching animal habitats and have chosen an animal to learn more about. We will choose our own way to present what we’ve learned.
We’re discussing Habit 7- Sharpen the Saw and how to take care of our minds and bodies.
As always, kindness comes first in our classroom!
