Writing Non-Fiction Chapter Books
Students will research many different topics throughout this unit. At the end of the unit, students will be expected to write a chapter book containing a title page, table of contents, 3-4 chapters, and a back of the book blurb page independently. Each chapter should include details in pictures and words to teach about their topic.
I meet with students weekly to confer and discuss goals and progress.

Topic 5
Students will learn new addition and subtraction strategies in this topic.
These strategies include making 10 to add 3 digit equations, making true equations, and finding the unknown number in an equation.
Examples:
6+4+3=?
If 6+4=10
Then 10+3=13
So 6+4+3=13
8 O 7 = 15 (add or subtract?)
18-__=10
