• Protocols to prevent risk of spread of infection while following 5 day quarantine

    • Any student with the following symptoms will be excluded from school: at least two of the following symptoms: fever ( measured or subjective), chills, rigors (shivers), myalgia (muscle aches), headache, sore throat, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, congestion or runny nose; OR At least one of the following symptoms: cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, new olfactory disorder, new taste disorder.
    • Unvaccinated siblings will also be sent home if a student is sent home symptomatically until test results are received. 
    • Students sent home due to COVID quarantine/isolation guidelines can log in remotely if well enough.
    • If there is no known COVID contact in the past 5 days and the student is evaluated by a doctor and receives an alternate diagnosis, they may return to school sooner if well enough. 
    • Nurse to call all students out sick to evaluate, while following the COVID quarantine/isolation guidelines, if symptoms have improved enough to return to school. 
    • Test results must be emailed to the nurse or dropped off at school prior to returning.
    • Students must enter through the nurse’s office when returning to school in order to be cleared to return to class.
    • Those on days 6-10 must wear masks at all times, including while at recess outside.
    • Those on days 6-10 should eat lunch in the designated area for COVID quarantine.

     

    Isolation

    1. Symptomatic and test* positive: Isolate 5 days from the start of symptoms (day 0). Return on day 6 or once fever free >24 hr and other symptoms improve. Should continue to wear a mask for 5 days after return for all activities.
    2. Asymptomatic and test* positive: Isolate 5 days from positive test and if symptoms develop 5 days from start of symptoms (day 0). Return on day 6 once fever free >24 hr and other symptoms improve. Should continue to wear a mask for 5 days after return for all activities.

     

    Quarantine

    1. Symptomatic, refusing to test: Quarantine 5 days from start of symptoms (day 0). Return on day 6 once fever free >24 hr and other symptoms improve. Should continue to wear a mask for 5 days after return for all activities.
    2. Symptomatic, pending test* results: Quarantine while waiting for test results. If negative, clear to return 5 days from start of symptoms (day 0). Return day 6 once fever free >24 hr and other symptoms improve. Should continue to wear a mask for 5 days after return for all activities. If positive, refer to isolation guidelines above. 
    3. Close contact** out of the home, unvaccinated: Quarantine 5 days from last contact with positive case. If remains asymptomatic, can be tested* on day 5 and if negative return to school once results are obtained. If refusing to test and remains asymptomatic, Quarantine at least 5 days and return once cleared by the school nurse.  Should continue to wear a mask for 5 days (10 days total) after return for all activities. If at any point becomes symptomatic refer to Quarantine 1 or 2 above. If test positive refer to Isolation guidelines above.
    4. Close contact** in the home w/ or w/o mask, can isolate, unvaccinated: Quarantine 5 days from last contact with positive case. If remains asymptomatic, can be tested* 5 days after last contact with the positive individual and if negative return to school once results are obtained. If refusing to test and remains asymptomatic, Quarantine at least 5 days and return once cleared by the school nurse. Should continue to wear a mask for 5 days after return (10 days total)  for all activities. If at any point becomes symptomatic refer to Quarantine 1 or 2 above. If test positive refer to Isolation above.
    5. Close contact** in the home w/mask, cannot isolate, unvaccinated: Quarantine 10 days from positive individuals start of symptoms if symptomatic or positive test if asymptomatic. If remains asymptomatic, can be tested* on day 10 from the positive individual’s start of symptoms if symptomatic or positive test if asymptomatic and if negative can return once results are received. If refusing to test and remain asymptomatic, Quarantine at least 10 days from positive individual’s start of symptoms if symptomatic or positive test if asymptomatic and return once cleared by school nurse. Should continue to wear a mask for 5 days (10 days total) after return for all activities. If at any point becomes symptomatic refer to Quarantine 1 or 2 above. If test positive refer to Isolation above.
    6. Close contact** in the home w/o mask, cannot isolate, unvaccinated: Quarantine 15 days from positive individuals start of symptoms if symptomatic or positive test if asymptomatic. If remains asymptomatic, can be tested* on day 15 from positive individual’s start of symptoms if symptomatic or positive test if asymptomatic and if negative can return once results obtained. If refusing to test and remain asymptomatic, Quarantine at least 15 days from positive individual’s start of symptoms if symptomatic or positive test if asymptomatic and return once cleared by the school nurse. Should continue to wear a mask for 5 days (10 days total) after return for all activities. If at any point becomes symptomatic refer to Quarantine 1 or 2 above. If test positive refer to Isolation above.
    7. Close contact** out of the home, vaccinated***: No need to quarantine. If remains asymptomatic, should be tested* 5-7 days after last contact. If negative, no future test needed.  Should continue to wear a mask for 10 days after last contact for all activities. If at any point becomes symptomatic refer to Quarantine 1 or 2 above. If test positive refer to Isolation above.
    8. Close contact** in the home w/ or w/o mask, can isolate, vaccinated***: No need to quarantine. If remains asymptomatic, should be tested* 5-7 days after last contact. If negative, no future test needed.  Should continue to wear a mask for 10 days after last contact for all activities.If at any point becomes symptomatic refer to Quarantine 1 or 2 above. If test positive refer to Isolation above.
    9. Close contact** in the home w/ or w/o mask, cannot isolate, vaccinated***: No need to quarantine. If remains asymptomatic, should be tested* 5-7 days after positive individual’s start of symptoms if symptomatic or positive test is asymptomatic. If negative, retest on 10-12 days after positive individual’s start of symptoms if symptomatic or positive test if asymptomatic. If still negative, no further testing needed. Should continue to wear a mask for 10 days after last contact for all activities. If at any point becomes symptomatic refer to Quarantine 1 or 2 above. If test positive refer to Isolation above.



    *Tests should be a rapid or PCR test performed by a lab when possible. If unavailable, a positive home rapid test will be preliminarily accepted, but should be followed up with a school PCR test to confirm. Negative home rapid tests will not be accepted if the individual is symptomatic. 

     

    **Close Contact is defined as someone within 6ft for longer than 15 minutes for adults or 3ft for longer than 15 minutes for students over the 48 hour period prior to a positive test or onset of symptoms later confirmed to be positive

     

    ***Vaccinated is defined as an individual who is fully vaccinated including all boosters which they are eligible for.
